Prior to founding Aki, Matt was the Managing Director of Environmental and Social Risk at the U.S. DFC, focused on financial intermediary investments. With more than 15 years of progressive experience managing E&S issues, he was hired by DFC to build capacity in managing high risk (Cat A) investment and infrastructure funds. Prior to DFC, Matt was a manager in RMI’s (Rocky Mountain Institute) electricity practice tackling climate issues globally ranging from climate tech Venture Capital to energy transition policy. In addition, Matt worked for over a decade with ExxonMobil, where he focused his time aligning large scale infrastructure development with the IFC Performance Standards. Matt has resided in 6 countries and worked on projects in more than 40 representing all major emerging markets. He speaks fluent English and Portuguese and between work and his family, is find time to improve his Spanish.
